Someone claims they accidentally sent you money and asks you to send it back. While it may sound honest, this is a common payment scam.

Scammers often use stolen or fake funds. If you send money back, the original payment may later be reversed, leaving you out the money.

Be cautious if the message:

  • Urgently asks you to return funds.

  • Requests payment outside the original platform.

  • Pressures you not to contact your credit union.

Never return funds without contacting your credit union first so they can safely handle the situation.
