Did you receive a call or document claiming to be from law enforcement or a court official about missing jury duty? Pause before you respond.

Scammers can impersonate law enforcement or court officials, threatening fines or legal action if you don’t immediately. They may even spoof official phone numbers or send fake documents to make the attempt seem legitimate.

Remember: Real law enforcement will never demand immediate payment over the phone or require payment through bitcoin, gift cards or ATMs.

Be cautious if the caller:

  • Threatens arrest or legal action.

  • Pressures you to pay immediately.

  • Requests payment through bitcoin, gift cards, or unusual payment methods.

Instead of responding to the caller, hang up and contact your local court or law enforcement office directly using a verified phone number.
